Why grafted and not ungrafted?
Many ask “Why should I buy a Grafted Mango Tree?” The answer is that it will bear fruit in its first or second year. A tree that is not grafted will not produce fruit until its fifth to eighth year.
Another benefit of a grafted tree is that you are guaranteed the variety of the tree you have purchased.
Growing tips
Mango trees like a warm to hot climate that are frost free. Choose a spot that will get all day sun if you can. In the first 2 years prune the tree 2 to 3 times a year and then annually after that. A grafted mango tree will flower and produce fruit very early in it’s life while the tree is still too small to support fruit so it’s best to allow it to form into pea size fruit and then remove the fruit for this first couple of years until the tree is strong enough to hold fruit.
